3 Important Questions about Praying for America
Week I
National Elections
These national elections are crucial for America and for the world. Powers of darkness have tried to tear out our godly roots through the halls of our governing officials. We pray that God raise up the righteous and pull down the wicked at every level of our government, but especially in the presidential election for the leader of this land. Our heart is to raise up the leader of God’s choosing that would be pleasing to Him. 1 Timothy 2 instructs us to pray first of all “for kings and all who are in authority.” Seek God’s face on behalf of our nation. Pray that He will give us a President that is of His choice rather than the choice of a manipulative media. Pray that people who boldly stand for our Judeo Christian values and the heritage of our nation’s founders will be elected to the Presidency, U.S. Senate, and House of Representatives. “Lord give us leaders such that it will be for your glory to give us the victory through them.”
Devotional: National Elections
As we approach this crucial time for our nation, let us remember the power of prayer in shaping the future of our country. Our focus this week is on seeking God’s guidance in our national elections.
Scripture
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” – 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV)
Reflection
In times of political uncertainty, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or discouraged. However, as believers, we have a powerful tool at our disposal: prayer. The apostle Paul instructs us to pray for those in authority, recognizing that leadership decisions impact our ability to live godly lives.
As we pray for our nation’s elections, let’s focus on:
- Seeking God’s wisdom in choosing leaders
- Praying for candidates who uphold Judeo-Christian values
- Asking for protection against manipulation and deceit in the electoral process
- Praying for unity and peace in our nation, regardless of the outcome
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You as citizens of this great nation. We ask for Your guidance in these elections. Raise up leaders who fear You and will govern with wisdom and integrity. Protect our electoral process from corruption and manipulation. May Your will be done in our nation, and may the results bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Step
This week, commit to praying daily for the elections. Consider fasting one meal and using that time to intercede for our nation’s future. season of fasting and prayer and proclaim, it is not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit there is VICTORY!
Week II
Israel, the Apple of God’s eye
The Lord instructs us to “give Him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem as a praise in the earth” (Isaiah 66:7). Our spiritual heritage and prophetic destiny are joined to Jerusalem, the Jews, and Israel. The happenings in Jerusalem give us a prophetic pulse of God’s heart. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Bless Israel and pray for God’s protection from her enemies that threaten both within her borders and abroad. God promises to bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who curse her. May God give us leaders in every level of our Executive, Legislative and Judiciary branch of government including our State Department that will be passionately loyal friends to Israel. May God remove the haters of Israel so that our nation will not come under a curse. We pray for the peace of an undivided Jerusalem.
- Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
- Isaiah 62:6, “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”
Devotional: Israel, the Apple of God’s Eye
This week, we turn our hearts and prayers towards Israel, recognizing its special place in God’s plan and our spiritual heritage.
Scripture
“I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” – Genesis 12:3 (ESV)
Reflection
God’s covenant with Abraham extends to us today, reminding us of the special relationship between God and Israel. As Christians, we are grafted into this covenant through Christ. Our prayers for Israel are not just an act of political allegiance, but a spiritual responsibility and blessing.
As we pray for Israel this week, let’s focus on:
- The peace of Jerusalem and Israel’s protection
- Wisdom for Israel’s leaders in handling complex political situations
- The prosperity and welfare of the Jewish people
- The fulfillment of God’s prophetic purposes for Israel
Prayer
Lord God of Israel, we come before You as watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem. We pray for the peace and protection of Israel. Guard her from enemies within and without. Give wisdom to her leaders and comfort to her people. May our nation stand as a faithful ally to Israel, and may we as individuals be blessed as we bless Your chosen people. In the name of Yeshua, our Messiah, Amen.
Action Step
This week, find a way to tangibly bless Israel or the Jewish people. This could be through supporting a ministry that helps Jewish immigrants, learning about Jewish culture, or simply sharing a social media post in support of Israel.
Week III,
Revival and the Harvest of souls
Pray for personal, church and national revival. Pray for the restoration of our godly foundations. Pray for restoration in every family, every neighborhood and every city. We are asking the Lord for permanent revival that will sweep across America, sweep across denominational lines and bring in world-wide harvest. Joel 2 promises us spiritual rains of the Spirit of God in the last days: the former and the latter rains! We are praying for this outpouring to come and wash our land, restore the foundations and turn America back to her God-given purpose. That the godly roots of our Judeo-Christian foundations would be restored in every area of American society. That the inheritance of the church, signs, wonders, miracles, healings, deliverance and salvation would be restored in our nation and go out to the nations for a great harvest.
Pray for an outpouring of glory in signs, wonders and miracles in your church, your city and our nation. May God open the heavens over our outreaches and evangelism, demonstrating the power of the Gospel and delivering His people from darkness with signs and wonders. May God pour out His Spirit and renew the face of the earth in the greatest awakening this world has ever seen.
- Genesis 28:16, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”
- Jeremiah 32:21 “You have brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm…”
Devotional: Revival and the Harvest of Souls
This week, we focus our prayers on spiritual revival – in our own lives, in our churches, and across our nation and the world.
Scripture
“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.” – Joel 2:28 (ESV)
Reflection
The promise of revival is deeply rooted in Scripture. God desires to pour out His Spirit, not just on a select few, but on “all flesh.” This outpouring is meant to empower us for witness and to bring in a great harvest of souls.
As we pray for revival this week, let’s focus on:
- Personal renewal and deeper intimacy with God
- A fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our churches
- Signs, wonders, and miracles that demonstrate God’s power
- A great awakening that sweeps across denominational lines and brings many to Christ
Prayer
Holy Spirit, we hunger for Your presence and power in our lives and in our land. Pour out Your Spirit upon us as You promised. Revive our hearts, renew our minds, and empower us to be effective witnesses for Christ. Let Your glory fall afresh on our nation, bringing conviction of sin and a great turning to You. May this revival lead to the greatest harvest of souls the world has ever seen. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Step
This week, set aside extra time for prayer and worship. Ask God to revive your own heart first, then extend that prayer to your family, church, and nation. Be open to how God might use you as an instrument of revival in your sphere of influence.
Week IV
Families, marriages, and children
- Malachi 4:5-6, “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
Devotional: Families, Marriages, and Children
This week, we turn our focus to the foundational unit of society – the family. We pray for the strengthening of marriages, the protection of children, and the restoration of family values.
Scripture
“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.” – Malachi 4:5-6 (ESV)
Reflection
The breakdown of the family unit is one of the greatest challenges facing our society today. Yet, God’s heart is for reconciliation and restoration within families. The prophecy in Malachi speaks of a turning of hearts between generations, a key aspect of societal revival.
As we pray for families this week, let’s focus on:
- Strengthening marriages and combating the spirit of divorce
- Protection and guidance for our children
- Healing of broken relationships within families
- Restoration of godly values and practices in family life
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we lift up the families in our nation to You. Strengthen the bonds of marriage, making each union a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church. Protect our children from the snares of the enemy and guide them in Your truth. Heal the wounds in broken families and restore relationships between parents and children. May our families become beacons of Your love and grace in our communities. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Step
This week, take intentional steps to strengthen your own family relationships. This could involve having a family devotional time, writing letters of appreciation to family members, or planning a special family activity. If you’re aware of a struggling family, consider how you might offer support or encouragement.
